Speaker for the day was Jay Macejko, Youngstown City Prosecutor, whose main focus was economic crimes such as bad checks, identity theft, and petty theft. He encouraged merchants and citizens to prosecute these crimes, especially bad checks, after proper notice is given and no action occurs. He also explained auto sweeps and checkpoints and their value in fighting crime. Deanna Spirko, Rotary Club of Austintown President, presented a library book in Jay's honor to be placed in the library at Woodside Elementary School. She also mentioned that the local club had received an award for raising over $1200. a year in 2010 and 2011 to erradicate world polio.
Deanna Spirko called the meeting on Feb. 6 to order, and Gary provided the prayer, pledge, and led God Bless America. Song leader Mal Culp chose The Get Together song, an old favorite of Chuck Baker.

Gary announced the Four Way Speech Contest for March 19 (getting ready for district on March 31 in Canton) and Mentoring Day for April 23. Deanna mentioned that four from our club, Gary, Mark, Ron, and herself, attended the District Assembly in Canton last Saturday, where she received an award for Polio Plus donations.
The GSE team from Japan will be our guests on April 2, visiting adult care facilities with Deanna and Jen Connolly in morning and afternoon. April 21-22 will be District Conference in Canton at the Glenmoor Country Club, a very nice facility, which she encouraged members to attend.
Toby Mirto will be honored as an honorary member, leaving the club after many years of service. Pub of the Month will be at Quaker Steak on March 1, 6:30.
Rotary Club of Warren will hold a night of comedy and magic on March 30, tickets only $15. each.
Rescue Mission is doing another open house on Feb. 20 to show what they do best.
Chuck's Rotary Minute concerned one of the Rotary Peace Scholars who a survivor of the "killing fields" purges in Cambodia, studied in Australia then returned to Cambodia to provide health care for women and children, whose status is often neglected in Cambodian culture.
Hillary Prestridge had fellowship and fined anyone who was a Giants fan, hadn't bought or sold Reverse Raffle tickets, or hadn't been active recently in events. Tracy Morse won the drawing, but not the big one with her 8 of hearts.
