Members of the Rotary Club of Austintown are making final plans for their annual Reverse Raffle to be held at the Maronite Cneter on March 6, 2010. President Brian Laraway announced that only 20 tickets are left for a wonderful evening of food, fun, and cash prizes. A Chinese Auction will complete the festive evening, which benefits many local and international projects funded by the Rotary Club of Austintown.
Feb. 15, President's Day, so our favorite President Brian Laraway called the meeting to order on a sunny day with expectations of more snow.
Toby Mirto led the invocation, pledge and God Bless America.
GUESTS: Guests were Debbie Liptak from Boardman and Jim Jickess from Struthers.
SONGLEADER: Chuck Baker led singing of Battle Hymn of Republic.

Chuck Baker gave Rotary minute concerning polio.......in 1796, Edward Jenner provided the first smallpox vaccinations, beginning the reduction of a disease that had killed over 500 million. In 200 years, smallpox is virtually non-existant. Bruce Laraway added that a new vaccine is coming that prevent types 1 and 3 polio on an even greater basis.
FELLOWSHIP: Fellowship was provided by Mike Cafaro, fined anyone who hasn't sold a ticket for the Reverse Raffle or a prize for Chinese auction.
RAFFLE: Bruce won the drawing but not the big one.
PROGRAM Program was Reverse Raffle, in absence of speaker due to a death in family. There are still 25 tickets left, and we have to sell out before the night as our profit margin on the meal is slim already, only about $20. per ticket. Dinner will be a buffet again, with salads served at table, featuring our famous filet mignon carved by Mr. Anthony's staff. Decorations will be at noon on Mar. 6, Tony will bring table decorations. If each member sold just one ticket, we would be sold out NOW. Give it a try!!!!!!!
Toby Mirto closed with the quote: "I predict future happiness for Americans if we can prevent the government from wasting the labors of the people under the pretense of taking care of them".....Thomas Jefferson
