ROTARY MINUTE(S):
Chuck Baker finally found something "undepressing" in the Rotarian. A teacher and her husband took a year off to help the people in Honduras.
FELLOWSHIP: Toby asked questions on the Constitution. Made us all think for a minute about what we know and really don't know about our own rights.
RAFFLE: Woo woo. $10.00 pot. Won by Susan Leetch!
PROGRAM: Junior Achievement strives to inspire.
Serving over 9,000 youth in Mahoning, Trumbull, Ashtabula and Columbiana Counties and inspiring and preparing them to succeed in a global economy is not a small goal.
Michele Merkel, President of Junior Achievement of Mahoning Valley, Inc. stressed the importance of inspiring and preparing young people by showing them how to generate wealth and effectively manage it, how to create jobs which make their communities more robust, and how to apply entrepreneurial thinking to the workplace.
Through a dedicated volunteer network, JA provides programs for students in grades K-12 educating them about: Entrepreneurship • Workforce Readiness and Financial Literacy.
Students learn how to start a business, sell or make a product, and how to finance and develop it. Teachers welcome the addition of these volunteers and find that the 5 to 7 sessions of 45 minute prepared activities help young students learn basic skills, think critically and solve complex problems.
