Austintown Rotarians, this past weekend, came to aide of several residents whose homes have been severly damaged due to flooding.
One of the worst floods in Austintown happened last month on June 22nd. Since then, these victims have been trying to clean up the disaster the flood left behind. Several of these residents were elderly widows, who did not know where to turn to for help. This is where our Austintown Rotary Club stepped in. This past weekend the Austintown Rotarians joined together to give the residents, with the most need, a helping hand. We not only donated the drywall and supplies needed to rebuild, but also provided them with a number of volunteers to help take out any furniture and install the drywall ourselves. Though, not all of us knew how to install drywall, we soon learned. Two days were not enough to help the needs of everyone, so, we will be continuing this project until the resident's needs are met.A special thanks goes out to the Austintown Home Depot, for giving us a great deal on the drywall, Sam Boak and Sons, for letting us use your truck and for donating the insulation, and DJV Carpeting, for providing us a great bargin on carpeting, which will hopefully be installed by July 29th.For anyone who would like to help, we will be meeting at Santisi's IGA in Austintown Saturday July 22nd at 8:45.
