District Governor, Bob Patison, visited Austintown Rotary and shared some basic facts. Bob picked out six points of importance for Rotarians to dwell on and emphasize in the coming year: Time, Sports, Energy, Health, Character and Membership.

He informed us that every day 30,000 children under the age of 5 die - most for reasons such as diseases and malnutrition. In parts of India 75% of children die before the age of 5 and 40% of their women die during birth.  Immunization against measles would help in most of these cases.

President Michael Cafaro opened the meeting and called on Gary Reel to give the Invocation, Pledge and leading of God Bless America.

Guests were:  Christina Daley from Canfield, and of course, our special guest, District Governor, Bob Patison from the Canton Club.

Hilliary led us in singing "America The Beautiful" and we did a fair job.

There are only four countries left in the world that still has Polio victims.  The World Health Organization credits Rotary and is thankful for this program to eliminate Polio.  He stated that the progress of civilization relies on men of good character performing good deeds.

"Making Dreams Real" is the theme that has been adopted by Rotary International for this year.  We are all "members of the world village" and it is time for all men to volunteer and get involved.

Bob's visit reminded us all that, working together, we can make a difference.
