Brian Pretoka Joins Austintown Rotary

Chuck Baker inducted Brian Pretoka as our latest new member, sponsored by Lisa Oles, who placed his pin.  Brian is a realtor with Howard Hanna, and brings a lot of energy to our club.

Gary opened with the invocation and singing of God Bless America. 

Guests were Tony Giampietro from Girard Liberty and Christina Daley from Poland. 

Hillary led Battle Hymn of Republic. 

  • Mike announced Saturday is District Rotary MidYear Assembly in East Canton. The four going will meet at Smith Corners Church at 6:45 AM to ride with Mike. 
  • Poland Rotary is having the Chili Open on Jan. 24 at Bedford Trails. 
  • Melissa is ready for the Austintown 40th Anniversary celebration to be held with the Fireside Chat on Jan. 31 at Fifth Season Banquet Center on Rt. 46.  Notices have been sent to past Presidents and former members (it does include their spouses or guest), but current members will sign up at next meeting. 
  • Hillary Prestridge reminded us of Rescue Mission on Jan. 26 and passed around a signup. 
  • Mike announced resumption of the Club Social on Jan. 22 at Quaker Steak from 7-9 p.m., and it counts as a makeup. 
  • Our club made $225 from selling Taste of Austintown tickets, and the grand prize winner was our own Dr. Mitch Dalvin. See him if you need a night out.
  • Mike announced a joint meeting of the six Mahoning County clubs on Wednesday, Feb. 18 at noon to hear David Lee from the US Secret Service.  Location to be announced later.  
  • Karl's church Redeemer Lutheran is sponsoring a Blood Drive on Monday, Jan. 29 from 3-7 p.m. at 2305 S. Canfield Niles Rd. There is always a need for blood in the winter. 
  • No meeting Feb. 2 because of 40th Anniversary party for our club. 

Mitch had fellowship, and fined those who didn't cheer for the Steelers yesterday. He got quite a few.  Leanna said she didn't care, so maybe only owed 50 cents. 

Chuck won the drawing, but not the big one. There are not many cards left in the deck.
