Bill Adams spoke to Rotary about the Austintown Senior Center. A meals program will start in September for 52 seniors three days a week, food plus socializing. There will be some federal funding, but donations are encouraged. One of the sites will be located on Westerchester Dr in Austintown.
President, Susan Leetch opened the meeting and asked Gary Reel to lead the group in the Invocation, Pledge of Allegiance and singing of "God Bless America".

Visitors: George Faerber from Columbus, visiting grandchildren in Poland, Lisa Oles, past and future member, and Josh Aikens from Boardman.

SONGLEADER: Ron Carroll led us "In the Good Old Summertime" including the "tootsie wootsie" part.

ANNOUNCEMENTS:

* Bike night on Aug. 12 was a good success, hoping for same with O'Donolds tonight, thanks to Mark Cole for setting it up.

* Sept. 10 is District Foundation Celebration at Courtney's in Alliance, district and each club paying some so cost to those going is $10.

* Mary Womble from Youngstown is still looking for team leader and members for GSE team to Philippines next spring.

* LIT KITS are a district project this year, cost $7.50 each and clubs can designate where they go, whether local, US, or international.

* Brian Laraway will speak on the Foundation next week.

* Aug. 25 is Board Meeting at Lucianno's, 7:30 a.m. (counts as a makeup.)

CHUCK'S ROTARY MINUTE: Chuck had a "quickie" Rotary minute, mentioned a RYLA session in Chicago that had a 40 ft. rock wall to build trust (quickie was dedicated to Carolfor complaining that he takes too long)

FELLOWSHIP: Mark led fellowship, fined anyone who hadn't watched either Browns or Steelers last weekend.

RAFFLE: Ron Carroll won $9. but not the new big one.

PROGRAM: Speaker was Bill Adams, promoting Austintown Senior Center project. Population of Austintown is 21% seniors, higher than most of US.

Right now a committee exists and a non profit corporation called Austintown Generational Enrichment Corp. has been formed.

Sites proposed are the township owned building on Westchester Dr. and St. Anne's school on Raccoon. A meals program will start in September for 52 seniors three days a week, food plus socializing, donations encouraged but federal funded. Susan presented a book in his honor to Woodside.
